One of the hardest parts of parenting is trying to calm and soothe a baby that just doesn't seem to be helped by whatever tricks you try. Many mums worry that they aren't meeting the baby's needs or helping their baby because the baby continues to cry.

The Period of Hypo-Responsivity can be a really reassuring concept if you are struggling with this, that a distressed baby who is being sensitively responded to and soothed through their distress, will not experience an internal stress response with elevated cortisol, despite outwardly seeming distressed.

So, next time you're struggling through that witching hour, or feeling like nothing you do is helping your baby calm down, remember that your presence, your singing and rocking, and your empathy, is already enough. You are enough! πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š
